Why tick value matters
Two contracts can show the same price move on a chart and produce very different dollar results. A 10-point move in the E-mini S&P 500 is $500 per contract; the same move in the Micro E-mini is $50. Knowing the tick value before you trade is the first step to sizing positions sensibly. Learn more in How futures contracts work.
Common questions
What is a tick?
A tick is the smallest price increment a futures contract can move. Each contract has a fixed tick value: the dollars gained or lost per contract when the price moves one tick.
How do I enter Treasury prices?
Treasury futures are quoted in 32nds of a point. Enter them as decimals, for example 110-16 becomes 110.5.
Is this the amount I'd actually make or lose?
It's the price-move result per contract before slippage, plus any commission you enter. Your broker statement is the final word.
